On this desk
Know your rights. That is the tool.
This site is a free classroom of renter rights — not an app, not a law firm, not a sign-up. Match what is happening, confirm the rule where you live, and get help that is actually free.
You do not have to solve the whole case tonight. Take the next right step.
On this desk
- Match the situationEviction, repairs, deposits, rent increases, entry, unsafe housing. One guide. One next step. You do not have to read the whole library tonight.
- Confirm where you liveRenter law is mostly state law, plus whatever your city adds. Fifty states, DC, and fifty city desks — official chapters named, numbers not invented.
- Get free helpLegal aid, 211, fair housing, 988. All ungated. No account. If a court is named on the paper, that is the call tonight.
A classroom, not a vault
This site does not store your files, read your notice, or keep an account. Paper, photos on your phone, and a dated folder work. You already have tools.
Rights you can use tonight
A landlord notice is not an eviction. You can write the date, keep the original, and call legal aid if a court is named. That is already using your rights.
Help that is supposed to be free
Legal aid exists for court papers. 211 exists for rent, shelter, and utilities. None of that is a consolation prize, and none of it is behind a sign-up here.
Direct answers
Questions people actually ask.
Does this website store my files?
No. It is a public education desk. Keep the paper yourself. A folder, photos on your phone, or a notebook is enough.
Do I need an account?
No. Guides, state desks, city questions, and the help directory are ungated.
Is this legal advice?
No. It is legal information. We name official chapters and offices. We do not tell you what to do in your case.
What if I want an app to hold the papers?
Paper works. If you want a separate documentation toolkit, there is a sister site at rentershield.app. It is optional, it is not this classroom, and it is not a lawyer.
- This website does not analyze notices, store evidence, or chat.
- We are not a law firm, not legal aid, and not a tenants union. When a lawyer is needed, we say so and point you to free help.
- Nothing on this desk guarantees an outcome.
This classroom does not store your files. Paper works. Rights come first. rentershield.app
